FAS Machine Tools (Pty) Ltd identified a need for a machine that would combine the user friendliness of a C.N.C. lathe with the fast cycle times of cam-operated automatic lathes, at an affordable price.
Conceptual design work began in 1990, and the FAS Lathe came into being..This lathe embodies a number of unique features which have subsequently been patented.
Numerous detailed improvements were incorporated in the production design, which was launched in November 1999. The first sale was to a major corporate and was secured early in 2000.
As further machines were sold and operating feedback was received from the field, additional design enhancements were incorporated.
FAS Machine Tools has the design and engineering capability to enable customisation of the basic FAS lathe to meet specific customer requirements.
